About Singelkerk’s Second Sundays
This is a space where all are welcome! The contemplative service of music, scripture readings, and prayer is followed by a potluck lunch. If you can, please bring a dish or snack to share. (If you can’t bring a dish for whatever reason, stay anyway. There will be plenty!)

Program

  • Coffee & tea:         11:45-12:15
  • Worship service:   12:15-12:45
  • Potluck lunch:       1:00 onwards

Language

We hold this service and fellowship time in English. We also welcome and incorporate music, scripture readings, and prayer texts in the many different  languages of our community members.

Who are we?
We are people from here and people from around the world. We grew up here, or we are working here, or we are studying here, or we are passing through here on our holidays. Whatever the circumstances that bring you here, you are welcome. Some of us are members of this church congregation, many of us are visiting international students, expats, or travellers passing through Amsterdam. Doopsgezind Amsterdam, a congregation comprised of the Singelkerk in Amsterdam’s city centre and the Meerpadkerk in Amsterdam Noord, is a church community rooted in the Anabaptist faith tradition. It is a member congregation of Doopsgezind Nederland, which is a part of the Mennonite World Conference. The Singelkerk, where we meet, is a well preserved example of a hidden Mennonite church dating back to the early 1600s.

Get involved in Second Sundays
If you would like to be added to the Second Sundays email list, please leave your name and contact information on the signup list at one of the Second Sundays gatherings, or email Nina Schroeder-van ’t Schip (n.schroedervantschip@doopsgezindamsterdam.nl) If you would like to take part in shared tasks like scripture readings, handing out the bulletins, serving coffee, or musical reflections during the service, please let us know.

Become a member or friend of the congregation
Would you like to learn more about becoming a friend or member of the congregation? Feel free to get in touch to find out more about transferring membership or participation in a baptism preparation group. A more informal ‘friend’ affiliation is also possible. You can read more about this here (in Dutch).

Would you like to make a donation?
Doopsgezind Amsterdam relies on donations for a variety of its projects and operating costs. Feel free to read more, or make a donation, here (in Dutch).
